Ways to increase horsepower:  The most extreme way to increase horsepower is by using a Nitrous system, commonly referred to as NOS. Aftermarket headers are used to replace the stock cast iron headers on your vehicle. Two considerations in buying a header for you vehicle are pipe thickness and the material used. A good quality header should use between 18-gauge and 14-gauge tubing. Headers can be made with mild steel, coated steel, or stainless steel. Mild steel headers are the least expensive but will rust and corrode over time. Ceramic or powder coated headers are a little more expensive but will reduce the risk of corrosion. A stainless steel header prevents the possibility for corrosion and will last a long time. However, these tend to be on the expensive side. A good set of headers, along with cat-back exhaust and high-flow catalytic converter could get you up to 20-30 horse power.
