your cars performance and get it looking great! Here we will
show you how to turn your stock car into a unique expression of your self
(with some performance added).
Ways to
increase horsepower: The most extreme way to increase horsepower is by
using a Nitrous system, commonly referred to as NOS. Some other less extreme
methods include air filters which add around 10 to 15 hp at a low cost, some
can be found by checking out K&N or Toucan. Exhaust systems also
increase horsepower at a cost of around $200, find these for your car from
DC Sports and Pacesetter. Pulleys and Cam Gears by DC Sports also give
a little horsepower boost at a cost of around $130. Headers are the
most common way to increase power, offering 10 hp at a cost of around $200
check them by DC Sports and Pacesetter. Air intakes can be had for
around $130 which will give you a 10 hp boost. And some catalytic
converters by pacesetter for 5 hp gain are great choice.
Aftermarket headers are used to replace the stock cast iron headers on your vehicle.
Two considerations in buying a header for you vehicle are pipe thickness and the material used.
A good quality header should use between 18-gauge
and 14-gauge tubing. Headers can be made with mild steel, coated steel, or stainless steel. Mild steel headers are
the least expensive but will rust and corrode over time. Ceramic or powder coated headers are a little more expensive
but will reduce the risk of corrosion. A stainless steel header prevents the
possibility for corrosion and will last a
long time. However, these tend to be on the expensive side. A good set of headers, along with cat-back exhaust and
high-flow catalytic converter could get you up to 20-30 horse power.
